Keeping the street in sightความสงบที่ยังมองเห็นถนน

What should a building keep from the city outside? In the account of SUKHUMVIT 105 presented here, the street, overhead wires and trees form part of the context. I am interested in how a clinic can find its own character without pretending that its surroundings have disappeared.

The pale upper mass is more enclosed, while the frontage below is glazed. Inside, the waiting seats remain near a view outside. These are different ways of relating to the same surroundings. The design does not need to open every surface to maintain a connection with the street.

The view and the physical conditions of the room should not be confused. Seeing trees through glass does not establish acoustic privacy, thermal comfort or the quality of daylight. Those require examination of their own. What the design images let us consider is how much of the outside world we want to remain in view.

มุมมองกับสภาวะของห้องเป็นคนละเรื่องกัน การเห็นต้นไม้ผ่านกระจกไม่ได้ยืนยันเรื่องเสียง อุณหภูมิ หรือคุณภาพแสง ซึ่งยังต้องตรวจของมันเอง สิ่งที่ภาพออกแบบเปิดให้เราพิจารณาคือ เราอยากเก็บโลกข้างนอกไว้ในสายตามากน้อยแค่ไหน

For me, the appeal is in being inside without having to stop noticing what is outside. A place can have a character of its own and still acknowledge the street it belongs to.
