Natthapon Khemmueang
Architect and founder of Piaoform Studio
I begin with the life a place will hold. Where do people meet at the end of the day? What should remain private? Where can someone sit alone and still feel part of the house? These questions give a plan its shape before I consider how the building will look.
I look at architecture and interiors together. The depth of an opening, the position of a stair and the distance between a chair and a window all affect how a room is used. I am interested in the point where proportion, daylight and movement make sense together, down to the things we touch every day.
Each project asks for a different balance. Some rooms need to open towards a garden; others need a wall, a shaded edge or a little distance. I want the choices to belong to the place and the people using it. A material or a detail earns its place when it contributes to that relationship.
I also think about what happens after the drawings are finished. How will a surface age? Can a detail be built and maintained well? What deserves more of the budget, and what can be simpler? Construction, cost and time are part of the design conversation from the beginning.
NATTHA is where I bring this way of looking into my work and writing, through spaces, objects and ordinary moments that deserve a closer look. I lead the design direction and key decisions. Piaoform Studio is the team that develops and coordinates the drawings and produces the project work within our agreed scope.
