One Door Within a Large House

We do not come home to the overall form
When we look at a large house in a perspective image, we usually see it from far enough away to understand the whole composition. But nobody comes home by walking into “the overall form.” We walk towards one door.

The entrance brings architecture back to the body
That is why the entrance views of BANG BUA THONG hold my attention more than their size in the image might suggest.
A closer question changes the scale
As we approach, the two-storey mass still rises above us, but the canopy drops, broad steps lead forward, and a timber-toned door sits back in shadow. Together, these elements give the entrance a scale of its own. A person does not have to compete with the size of the entire building.
Visualisation can still reveal priorities
It is a small part of a 2,500-square-metre project, but small does not mean minor. The things we touch, open and cross every day are often where architecture comes closest to the body.
Small details can carry large consequences
I often ask myself, if the impressive overall image disappeared and only the final few metres before the door remained, would we still sense that someone had thought carefully about this place?

The last few metres deserve design tooไม่กี่เมตรก่อนเข้าบ้านก็ควรถูกออกแบบ
A visualisation cannot replace the experience of actual use, but it can show whether the entrance has been given architectural weight. Here, the door has an approach, a canopy and a boundary of its own.
One small point is where home begins
However large a house becomes, we still return home through a very small point. That point deserves to be designed well.
